About me
My name is Helein Treuhaft and I have a private practice in London and West Sussex. I am a relational therapist which basically means the in-depth therapeutic relationship jointly created by both of us is at the core of our work. I draw upon Eric Berne’s (the creator of transactional analysis) philosophy that all human beings are fundamentally okay, loveable and want to progress and grow.
Transactional Analysis is a humanistic modality and its aim is to help you be more aware of the here-and-now, to enable you to make informed decisions about your behaviour; to be able to connect with yourself and to be able to connect with others without past behaviours or beliefs getting in the way.
I draw upon my training in Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and various other humanistic models and therapeutic tools which I have studied, and continue to study, bringing a depth of knowledge and experience to our sessions. My belief is not one modality (way of working) will suit all of my clients, and I use a mixture, a smorgasbord if you like, of different theories, ideas and concepts to help you move toward being and feeling fundamentally okay and loveable.
I am a qualified Adoption Support Counsellor and work with adoptees, adoptive parents, special guardians, birth families and extended families. Each individual involved in adoption – from birth parent(s) to the child through to adoptive parent(s) and extended family are likely to encounter some difficulties along the way. It can be hard to know where to begin, together we can begin to untangle your thoughts and feelings.
I am dyslexic and AD(H)D and understand how a neuro-divergent diagnosis (whether formally or self) can impact your self-esteem, self-worth and confidence especially if diagnosed later in life. Being neuro-divergent can bring an extra layer of confusion around self, for example through masking and thinking differently from the usual (or neuro-typical) person. I am happy to help other neuro-diverse people navigate their way through this kind of issue.
